TAO Falls 14% in a Week to $259 as New Subnet Carbon Surges 1,634%

TAO fell 10.7% in 24 hours and 14.4% over seven days, per TaoStats, as newcomer Carbon posted a four-figure 7-day gain and lium.io kept the top emission share across 128 subnets.

TAO News weekly Bittensor ecosystem roundup - this week's subnet movers and stats

TAO trades at $259, down 10.7% in 24 hours and 14.4% over seven days, according to TaoStats. The Bittensor ecosystem has 128 active subnets with a combined subnet-token market cap of $1.27B. Subnet-level price action remains sharply divergent, with one newly listed subnet posting a four-figure percentage gain even as several established names shed value over the past seven days.

Biggest movers

The week’s standout mover is Carbon (SN116), up an extraordinary 1,633.8% over seven days to a $1.5M market cap, ranked 103rd overall, though Carbon only registered on-chain on 4 October, so the figure reflects its short trading history rather than sustained momentum. Attune (SN58) followed with an 85.6% 7-day gain to $2.1M (rank 93), while AdTAO (SN21) rose 38.3% to a $6.7M market cap, sitting at rank 45. Finsight (SN109) added 18.7% to reach $1.1M (rank 109), and RedTeam (SN61) climbed 14.7% to $17.7M, holding a solid rank 17.

On the losing side, Beam (SN105) led the fallers with a 20.2% drop to $3.8M (rank 70). Cathedral (SN94) slid 18.7% to $2.0M (rank 95), and NIOME (SN55) fell 16.1% to $2.9M (rank 82). Ditto (SN118) lost 13.3%, settling at $4.6M (rank 59), while Nepher Robotics (SN49) declined 12.8% to $4.9M (rank 55). TaoStats data shows no obvious thematic clustering among the fallers, suggesting these moves are subnet-specific rather than sector-wide.

New subnets

Three subnets have registered on-chain in the past 21 days. SN82, which has yet to set an on-chain identity, registered on 26 September with a $164K market cap. ChipForge (SN108) followed on 20 September at $399K, and Carbon (SN116), this week’s biggest gainer, registered most recently on 4 October at $1.5M, already outpacing its older peers.

Where the volume went

24-hour trading volume, per TaoStats, was led by SayGM (SN28) with 8,278 TAO changing hands (approximately $2.1M), narrowly ahead of engy (SN53) at 8,097 TAO (around $2.1M). Vidaio (SN85) recorded 5,077 TAO in volume (about $1.3M), with Bitcast (SN93) close behind at 4,917 TAO (about $1.3M). Almanac (SN41) rounded out the top five with 4,547 TAO traded (about $1.2M). The clustering of volume among these five subnets points to concentrated trader interest rather than broad-based activity across the full 128-subnet field.

Emission leaders

On the emissions side, lium.io (SN51) tops the table with an 8.9% share of network emissions, followed by KubeTEE (SN90) at 8.2%. Minos (SN107) takes 7.3%, with Chutes (SN64) at 5.9% and Affine (SN120) rounding out the top five at 5.2%. Together these five subnets account for a significant concentration of emissions, underscoring how validator and miner attention remains focused on a relatively small number of high-throughput subnets even as the broader ecosystem continues to expand.

Closing thoughts

This week’s TaoStats figures show a volatile market: TAO itself fell 14.4% over the week to $259, and individual subnets continue to swing wildly, from Carbon’s four-figure surge to double-digit percentage losses elsewhere. With three new subnets added in the past three weeks and emissions concentrated among a handful of established players, the ecosystem’s underlying dynamics remain as active as ever.

This is not investment advice.
